My Alias

Born in 31st of October, 1903, Joan Violet Robinson is a British Economist known for her work in Keynesian economics. Joan Maurice earned her degree in economics at the University of Cambridge in 1925. She was then married to Austin Robinson, who was also an economist, and started teaching at Cambridge from 1931 and became a full-time professor in 1965. She was, in fact, the first female to be honored by King’s College, which is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. While she is widely respected of her work and is known to deserve the recognition, she has never won the Nobel Prize of Economics.

Influenced by her father, Robinson worked on several committees for government during wartime. Her interest of study lied upon underdeveloped and developing countries, such as Soviet Union, China, North Korea, and India, studying Marx and Keynes. She dedicated her time on attending Centre for Development Studies where she supported fellow students by donating her own books and funding lectures.
